The Dust Bowl

The Dust Bowl was the name given to the Great Plains region devastated by drought in 1930s depression-era America.  If you enjoyed watching Ken Burns’ recent two part documentary by this title, and would like to read more about this tragic episode in our nation’s history, you’ll find lots of information at the library.  A good place to start is by typing Dust Bowl into the search box of the Marinet catalog.  Related information can be found under the subjects Great Depression , Great Plains History, and Migrant Labor California.  You can even find music from the period under the subject Dust Bowl Ballads.  Finally, if you missed The Dust Bowl on TV you can request it on Marinet.
