Free Holiday Opera in Marin

Contemporary Opera Marin, the opera program at College of Marin, will be bringing four performances of Gian Carlo Menotti's holiday opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, to Marin County this weekend.  This moving 50 minute work is fully staged and performed in English and is perfect for the entire family.  Admission and parking is free at all four venues.

The cast includes Diana Kehrig, Jane Reagan, Michael P. Mendelssohn, Roger McCracken, Zach Weisberg, Jordan Eldredge and a large chorus.  The production is directed by Richard Wallace with musical direction by Paul Smith.


When & Where:

  • Friday, December 16 at 7:30 pm, Olney Hall, College of Marin Kentfield campus (Olney Hall is on College Ave. just across the street from Pacific Cafe
  • Saturday, December 17 at 5:00 pm, Toby's Feed Barn, Point Reyes Station (11250 Highway 1 - the performance takes place among the hay bales in the barn. A sweater is recommended.
  • Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 pm, First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo, 72 Kensington Road.
  • Sunday, December 18 at 5:00 pm, Muir Beach Community Center, 19 Seacape Drive.  The coastal village of Muir Beach is located on Highway 1 approximately fifteen minutes from the Tam Junction exit on Highway 101.
