April, 2012 in the Fairfax Library Meeting Room Gallery—Through April, stop in to experience a captivating collection of photos by local artist Laila Al-Jamal.  Laila’s photographs offer a unique vision of central Mexico. Her photos celebrate the art, the architecture, the culture, and the people of Leon, Guanajuato and Jalisco, captured both in vibrant color and in black and white.

Laila is a Fairfax resident and is currently studying at the College of Marin. From her artist’s bio:

The draw of photography for me has always been in the camera’s ability to remember details everyone else forgets. The manual camera is incredibly similar to the human eye, which for me gives photography a pure quality, and for this reason all my photos are done with manual cameras and are not digitally enhanced or altered in any way. This series of photos was taken with a Nikkormat FTn, of the cities of Leon, Guanajuato and Jalisco in Mexico.  I hope you enjoy the show!
