Sunday, February 10th, 8pm, CBS.
I. Can’t. Wait.
Although I can’t remember the first time I watched the Grammy Awards, I can’t remember not watching them. It was always an event for my mother and myself, and we would be armchair critics of who was (or wasn’t ) performing, and sometimes yell,” What is this music!? Who is this person?” “Why did they win!” “That was awesome!” "Ohhh, he's so cute!"
Now we watch it over the phone together. ( My mom lives in Minnesota and has not yet graduated to Skype. )
This year there will be performances by Carrie Underwood; Rihanna; Maroon 5 and Adele to name a few. There will also be a special tribute to Dave Brubeck. Of course I must also say that my very own Prince is going to be there, though there isn’t word yet if he will perform, but let’s hope. ( He recently graced the cover of Billboard magazine, I might add, which is available at the library! )
Oh! I can’t forget to mention the host:
Mr. LL Cool J.
Ladies Love Cool James.
Libraries Love Cool James.
I Love Cool James.
I imagine it as if he will be talking to me for three hours. This is a nice daydream. I recommend it. I follow him on Twitter and he sent a Tweet directly to me one time after I responded to a photo he tweeted! He tweeted to ‘lil ‘ol me! No joke, people. Have that one saved in the archives for sure!
If you need to prepare for the show, the Library has a great selection of CDs for you, such as:
Maroon 5, Overexposed
Taylor Swift, Red ( This CD contains the earworm hit song," We are never ever getting back together." I warned you. )
Dave Brubeck, The Real Ambassadors
So have a little fun this weekend and catch up on your music -- it changes everything!
