Discovery Museum Passes

You can check out free passes for the Bay Area Discovery Museum at the Marin County Free Library! Each MCFL pass admits six people and can be checked out for one week.

Library Databases for Kids

From ebooks to language learning to homework help, the Marin County Free Library offers a variety of free, online research and resources that can be accessed from within the library and from home.

An interactive literacy resource that builds a love of reading and learning, online! BookFlix pairs classic fictional video storybooks from publisher Weston Woods with nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to reinforce reading skills and develop essential real-world knowledge and understanding. BookFlix is accessible to every child – early readers, reluctant readers, and English Language Learners.

Students can connect live with an expert tutor for homework assistance in English or Spanish, Monday through Friday from 1PM to 10 PM, PST, Kindergarten to Adult. They also provide a writing lab, test center, Live Skill Building, Foreign Language Lab and an adult learning center.
(Available only to Marin County Free Library jurisdiction residents due to licensing agreements)

Designed for elementary school students, Kids Search makes it easy for students to search by keyword or by topic to find useful resources and features a dictionary, an encyclopedia, and images. Students can search across the following databases simultaneously: Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, History Reference Center, Middle Search Plus, Newspaper Source, Primary Search and Science Reference Center.

An online language learning system for ages 0-6, Little Pim, powered by Mango Languages, introduces children to foreign language in a way that is accessible and engaging. The method incorporates words and themes that are relevant to a child’s daily life, and research shows that early language learning enhances verbal development, social and cognitive skills.

A reader’s advisory service aimed at the K-8 population, this resource contains enhanced subject access for over 60,000 fiction titles. Also includes discussion guides, award-winner lists and recommendations.
