Kids Summer Challenge

June – August

Kids can sign up for the Summer Learning Challenge at any branch of Marin County Free Library.  Each child receives a folder where they can keep track of the minutes they have read, and receive suggestions for fun learning activities.

Kids earn a Book Buck for every 100 minutes they read (or are read to).  Book Bucks can be exchanged for a variety of prizes.   Visit your local branch to see the prizes available.  Kids who complete the Learning Challenge will receive a Gold Medal Reader button.

Kids can also choose to donate Book Bucks to our Giving Program. This year Friends of the Library will donate a dollar to Marin Foster Care Association for every Book Buck donated (up to $500).

Kids who participate in library summer reading programs are better prepared for the next school year: a White House study found that reading 5 books over the summer prevents learning loss.

The Kids Summer Challenge Program is funded entirely by the generosity of the Friends of the Marin County Free Library.
