The Oracle of Stamboul (book jacket)Books are a wonderful way to explore other lands, other times, other cultures and other people.  The 2012 One Book One Marin selection, The Oracle of Stamboul, is set in Istanbul in the late 19th century.   To accompany this year's book, the library has created a booklist of other novels set in Istanbul and Turkey.  Check out the list for ideas about what to read next.

Of course, there are also a variety of free events taking place around the county as part of the celebration, where you can sample the cooking of Turkey, find out more about the art and architecture of Istanbul, listen to Turkish and Sephardic music, and more.  Come and join in the exploration!
